Welcome! I’m Carol, and I’m here to help you take your résumé and hopefully your career to NEW HEIGHTS! 

 

Why me? Good question. Since I entered the workforce in the mid-1980s, my background has been in executive assistant roles for senior and C-level executives. Attention to detail is paramount when supporting someone in that position. Many times, I prepare correspondence for the executives I support or draft intercompany notes to a staff of hundreds.

I enjoy writing of all types—letters, blogs, instructions, motivational pieces, etc. I believe written words are powerful and they can build up, tear down, move, transform, and inspire people. I’m a “go-to” person among friends and family to review, edit, and write business letters, emails, résumés, web pages, assignments, etc. to ensure adequacy and grammatic or punctual correctness.

How did I get started with résumés of all things? Well, it goes back to one of the executives I was supporting, and she needed a résumé. I’ve written résumés before, my own years ago…what’s the big deal, right? When you put pen to paper for someone other than yourself, it takes on a whole new meaning. I’m now helping someone else put themselves out there. It’s serious business. We worked together to create a good, foundational piece of work. When the time came for her to get her résumé ready for board positions, she enlisted the help of a Certified Professional Résumé Writer (CPRW). I didn’t even know there was a certification for writing résumés. The CPRW took my boss' résumé to A WHOLE NEW LEVEL! It was a masterpiece! My boss was adamant that résumé writing was a line of work I could do, too. With her encouragement, I submitted my work to the Professional Association of Résumé Writers and am pleased to be a CPRW.

In the past few months during the COVID pandemic, some friends and co-workers have been displaced and are now entering the job market. Let’s face it, looking for a job anytime is stressful, let alone during a once-in-a-lifetime pandemic. What better way to use a skill I have than to help others get traction quickly in the job market?
